#NYTechWeek and why I’m there

It’s New York Tech Week this week!

Want to feel overwhelmed?

Just check out this insane list of presentations, meetups, comedy shows, dinners, and more that’s all happening within the next 4ish days…

It’s like someone took the energy of startup life, added 1000 RSVPs, and crammed it into a Google Sheet.

And honestly?

I’m here for it.

Because this week is special.

Founders are being celebrated - rightfully so.

But let’s be honest…

In New York?

Telling someone you’re a founder doesn’t earn you cool points;

It’s just another job.

No one's impressed.

You’ve still gotta hustle, make it work, and pay the bills.

That’s what makes this place so great.

Not only are you a subway ride away from your next 3 VC pitch meetings;

You’re shoulder to shoulder with artists, bankers, nannies, accountants, politicians, bodega owners.

People nothing like you,

And that’s the point.

NYC taps you into the world outside the tech bubble - fast.

  • It keeps you humble.

  • It keeps you sharp.

  • It forces you to build for real people.

That’s why I love being a CFO here.

And why I think NYC startups have a serious edge right now.

Because in this market,

(Where VCs are asking tougher questions and founders need to prove actual margins and payback periods)

Reality is an advantage.

So here’s my prediction:

More unicorns will come out of NYC than SF in the next 10 years.

Not because we raise more.

But because we build smarter.

More grounded.

More durable.

If you’re out and about at NY Tech Week this week, say hi!

I’ll be the one talking CAC payback while sniffing out the bacon-wrapped dates.
